A Guide to the Holidays in Cape Cod

Cape Cod is typically associated with summer travel, which is part of what makes it so romantic here during the holiday season. For those who are looking for a quieter getaway that’s still lit up with classic holiday cheer, festive local traditions, and one-of-a-kind shopping — consider a nice getaway to Falmouth. For a little more detail, here’s this brief guide to visiting Cape Cod during the holiday season.

STAYING WITH SEA CREST BEACH HOTEL

A quiet, cozy stay in Cape Cod might just be the perfect addition to your holiday season plans. You can count on comfort at Sea Crest Beach Hotel with our luxurious Sealy pillowtop beds, and some guest rooms with fireplaces, ocean views, and flat-screen TVs. Join us for our Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve events at Red’s Restaurant & Lounge, or explore the surrounding area for great shopping, dining, and other holiday-themed events.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN CAPE COD

Cape Cod is home to a fantastic mix of shops featuring local creations, artwork, and gifts, as well as more well-known brands and chains. For more unique options, we recommend seeking out gifts Made on Cape Cod, which you can learn more about here. Some examples of such vendors include Slyk Shades, Kandy Korner in Hyannis, and the nation’s oldest glass company at Pairpoint Glass in Sagamore.

LOCAL HOLIDAY EVENTS

Every holiday season, local events create great opportunities to celebrate with locals and travelers. Here are some we are looking forward to.

Polar Express Train Rides
Buzzards Bay Depot |
November 25 – December 23

This hour-plus experience features an actual train ride with sounds and characters from the motion picture and classic children’s book. This amazing family event features dancing waiters, costumed elves, and of course a Santa Claus.

A Christmas Story: The Musical
Harwich Junior Theatre | December 2-30

This production is based on the classic 1983 movie that runs non-stop on cable every year. It’s a blast to see come to life with local and regional talent at one of the Cape’s best local venues. The musical will show on Fridays and Saturdays throughout its run.

The 59th Annual Falmouth Christmas Parade
Main Street | December 4

This is our neck of Cape Cod’s favorite holiday tradition. The annual parade runs along Main Street and features festive, holiday-themed floats, marching bands, live animals, and costumed characters such as elves and the man himself — Santa Claus! To help gear up for this special event, on the day before, on December 3rd, the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce will also hold the 11th Annual Jingle Jog 5K, the Falmouth Village Holiday Stroll, and more.
